Your introduction to ten days of leisurely birding around Jamaica

In addition to our four (4) days birding tour of northern Jamaica, our six (6) days birding tour in eastern Jamaica and our eight (8) days birding tour across Jamaica, Attractions Link Tourism Services is also offering a ten (10) days birding tour which takes you around Jamaica.  With a high level of consideration for persons who want to bird for less hours and at a slower pace, especially for our older birders.  Our years of experience with these persons have prompt our promotion team to design and promote this birding vacation mainly for these easy-pace, slower moving persons who want a birding vacation which will worth there while, visiting Jamaica for birding with ease and leisure. 

This longer, however less tiresome birding and leisure vacation will allow our clients to see much more of Jamaica to include its beauty, natural attractions and a great part of its birdlife to include its twenty nine (29) endemic birds species, endemic subspecies plus other migrant, resident and vagrant birds species within a ten (10) days period.  This arrangement guarantees equal relaxation between outings so that our birders are not too tired at the end of each day.  Enjoy Jamaica's birding in its entirety when you bird with total leisure on this Ten Days Jamaica Birding Extravaganza.

Accommodation sites that you will enjoy staying during your ten days birding tour around Jamaica.

Regarding your places of accommodation during this tour, you will be accommodated in two (2) small hotels and three birding lodges.  All accommodation sites are in close proximity of the birding areas which you will visit.  Your first small hotel is located in the town of Black River, only fifteen (15) minutes from the Black River Safari, lower Black River Morass, ponds and seashores.  Here, you will meet other participants of the tour and spend the first night prior to your birding tour.  This hotel operates a restaurant that serves delicious meals of Jamaican and continental dishes.  Your first two (2) lodges will be in the Blue Mountains.

In the southern Blue Mountains, you will be accommodated in decent mountain lodge which is surrounded by a coffee farm and a beautiful garden with flouring plants which attracts numerous bird species.  In the northern Blue Mountains, you will be accommodated at another mountain lodges with similar amenities.  This lodge is very close to three major forested which on most occasions, most or all of the rare endemic bird species are found.  These lodges are just twenty (20) minutes from some of the Blue Mountain's most heavily flocked forests. 

This lodge also serves mouth watering dishes and is ideal for your short accommodation. In northeastern Jamaica, your accommodation site will be a quiet and peaceful lodge which is located in woodland setting, on the eastern suburb outside the town of Port Antonio.  This birding lodge has a swimming pool, numerous fruit trees, flowering gardens and small forests which form canopy-like walkways that attract several endemic, migrant, resident and vagrant bird species. 

This accommodation venue is close to the forests of the John Crow Mountains which you will be going for birding.  Your second small hotel is located only twenty minutes from the Sir Donald Sangster's International Airport in Montego Bay.  Here you will spend your final night of your tour, just in case some persons have early flights to catch on the final day.  All the accommodation sites mentioned are clean, comfortable and serve delicious meals. 

Areas and habitats you will visit during your ten days birding tour around Jamaica.

During your ten days birding tour around Jamaica, you will be visiting habitats such as the lower and upper Black River Morass, various ponds, rivers, and seashores of the Black River area, dry-forests of southern Jamaica, the lush forests of the southern Blue Mountains, the cool high forests of the central Blue Mountains, the lush forests of the northern Blue Mountains, the cool and lush Buff River Valley, the wide open planes and canopy areas of the Rio Grande Valley, various river mouths and shorelines of northeastern Jamaica, the lower John Crow Mountains, the upper John Crow Mountains, two of Jamaica's top botanical gardens plus flowering gardens which surrounds your accommodation lodges. 

While in northeastern Jamaica, you will also visit woodland habitats which are only thirty minutes from your place of accommodation.  Northern Jamaica, you will be visiting the limestone forests northern Cockpit Country.  This area is not far from most Jamaica's north coast luxury resorts.  It also area provides a large number of forested areas which are home to a large number of Jamaica's endemic birds.

Different species of birds you can see during your ten days birding tour around Jamaica.

During your first two days of birding in southern Jamaica, with your skilled, experienced and professional birding guide, you will be able see various birds of prey, Avocets, Bitterns, Boobies, Coots, Ducks Egrets, Gallinules, Grebes, Gulls, Herons, Ibises, Jacanas, Pelicans, Plovers, Swifts and Sandpipers while birding along the seashores, rivers, and ponds which are located in the lower Black River Morass and also the dikes and jungle-like areas of the Upper Black river Morass!  Do not be surprised to see to see some species of Doves, Finches, Flycatchers ,Pigeons, Potoos, Thrushes and Warblers, while birding in these areas.  You will need to keep your eyes peeled as some  Jamaican endemics are also prone in these areas.

On your way to the southern Blue Mountains, your morning in the central Cockpit Country will be lightened with the presents of Doves, Crows, Cuckoos, Flycatchers, Hawks, Hummingbirds, Parrots, Pigeons, Quits, Thrushes, Todies, Vireos, Warblers and Woodpeckers, before visiting the southern dry-forests which hosts the Bahama Mockingbird, Grasshopper Sparrow, Jamaican Mango Hummingbird and the Stolid Flycatcher.  While birding in the southern, central and northern Blue Mountains, you will start coming across some of the rare endemics which are related to Cardinals, Cuckoos, Doves, Finches, Grass quits, Hummingbirds, Icterids, Pigeons, Thrushes, Vireos and Warblers,

Your birding along the seashores, moist forests, breezy hills and gardens of the northeastern Jamaica will be rewarding as you will be able to see new birds such as the Black Billed Streamer-tail Humming Bird and the Jamaican Owl!  Have some additional rest at your first place of accommodation with a swimming pool.  Enjoy birding while you raft trip down the Rio Grande.  You will not regret your final stop when you reach the extreme northern section of the island.  Your final outing to the northern Cockpit Country will put the incensing on the cake when you seize the opportunity of viewing birds you may have seen before but not so easy!  You will enjoy the photographic opportunity.
